SELECTED EXPERIENCE / EXPERIENTIAL RETAIL / 2020—2022
FROM CONCEPT TO EXPERIENCE.
CLIENT — ROTO
LOCATION — WESTFIELD LONDON
DELIVERED BY — THE PRODUCTION TEAM
LIVE — JUL 2021 TO JAN 2022

01 / THE BRIEF
Following previous exhibition builds and pitch assets, ROTO commissioned the production team directly to develop and deliver a bespoke kiosk at Westfield London. The aim was to offer the public a paid ROTO VR gaming-chair experience, with potential for future rollout to further UK locations.
The kiosk needed to operate as a working retail environment, integrate client-supplied VR chairs, headsets and technology, and meet detailed venue requirements.
02 / DEVELOPMENT
Conversations began in December 2020. ROTO supplied the initial concept. Successive development stages responded to Westfield's detailed feedback on visual appearance, access, screen integration, fire-rated materials and construction. The April 2021 Version 4 design brought these requirements together into a practical, buildable scheme that closely corresponds to the finished kiosk.
The finished kiosk remained faithful to the developed design: orange perimeter fins, illuminated ROTO branding, bespoke counters, integrated screens, transparent dividers, VR-chair positions and branded flooring. The production team coordinated specialist fabricators and suppliers, managing the build, graphics and electrical infrastructure. The work also included Westfield liaison, permits, RAMS, electrical drawings and testing, with materials specified to meet the venue’s requirements.
DESIGN TO REALITY / APRIL—JULY 2021
From the developed 2021 scheme to the completed installation, the key design features carried through into the finished environment: orange perimeter fins, illuminated branding, bespoke counters, integrated screens and VR seating. The photographs below capture the quality and detail of the physical build.

02 / BESPOKE DETAIL
A distinctive sequence of orange fins gives the kiosk its sculptural perimeter and a strong presence within the shopping centre.

03 / BRAND PRESENCE
The illuminated ROTO feature anchors the installation, bringing the brand to life through dimensional signage and light.

03 / INSTALLATION
Installation and later modifications required overnight working. Although shops were closed, members of the public could still be present in the mall. Access, noise, safety and multiple approval stages shaped the delivery.
The flooring layout was reconfigured to accommodate electrical connections while retaining access for the centre when needed. The complete kiosk was installed and handed over in a single night in July 2021, ready for live retail operation.
04 / ACTIVATED IN PUBLIC SPACE
The final stage is the public experience itself: ROTO VR chairs operating inside the completed branded kiosk, with visitors trying the technology in Westfield London. These real-life photographs close the story that begins with the early renders and April 2021 developed scheme.
The installation was more than a faithful build of the approved design direction. It became a functioning, customer-facing activation, supported by the production team during approximately five to six months of operation before its January 2022 removal.

05 / LIVE OPERATION
The production team continued supporting the kiosk throughout its five to six months of operation, responding to maintenance requirements and modifications. These included replacement of a damaged TV unit, stronger acrylic elements following breakages and new lino flooring.
The installation was broken down and removed in January 2022. ROTO provided highly positive feedback on the finished experience and delivery.
THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND VYSABL
The ROTO project demonstrates the production discipline behind VYSABL: working through design constraints before installation so that the finished environment matches the developed scheme, then taking responsibility for the build, ongoing maintenance and eventual removal.
Originally delivered by the production team for ROTO and presented as previous-project experience of the people behind VYSABL. This case study features the April 2021 developed design drawings and original photography of the completed Westfield London installation.
